British Guitarist Guthrie Govan To Perform In Mumbai This February
It’s a great time to be a progressive rock or post-rock patron. Over the past year and a half, fans of the closely related genres have been able to see such hallowed acts as Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, The Aristocrats and Steven Wilson play shows in Pune and Mumbai. The Aristocrats had such a good time (their concert here sold out so soon that they added a second date) that one-third of the trio, British guitarist Guthrie Govan is coming back. Guthrie will perform in the city at the Worli outpost of Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday, February 16. The gig is part of a five-stop tour of the country, organised by Ahmedabad-based artist and event management company BlueTree Studios, during which he will be joined by two young Mumbai musicians, drummer Gino Banks and bassist Mohini Dey. Guthrie will also conduct a workshop at the Furtados School of Music at Nepean Sea Road, tickets for which are almost sold out.
Guthrie Govan will perform on Thursday, February 16 at Hard Rock Cafe, Bombay Dyeing Mills Compound, Pandurang Budhkar Marg, Worli. Tel: 022 2438 2888. Doors open at 8.30pm. Tickets priced at Rs2,000 per person, which include a cover charge of Rs1,000, are being sold on Insider.in. Get directions here. For more information, see the Facebook event page.
