NH7 Weekender Pune and Meghalaya 2017 Line-Up

Two names in the line-up for this year’s edition of the flagship Pune leg of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender festival seem to be promoter Only Music Louder’s way of making up with metal fans who felt shortchanged with the bills over the past couple of years. The Dillinger Escape Plan from the US and Textures from the Netherlands, widely popular metal groups that will both be disbanding soon, will play the festival as part of their farewell tours. Their presence in the Pune roster – Textures will also perform in Meghalaya – is contrasted by the Bollywood contingent, made up this time of Hindi film composers Vishal Bhardwaj and Ram Sampath. However the biggest international name announced, American guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, will only be part of the Meghalaya leg.

Those who continue to associate Weekender with the indie leanings that characterised its initial few years will be pleased that US punk rock legend Marky Ramone are among the international acts playing Pune. Like every year, there will be a couple of one-night-only performances. In Meghalaya, Shillong-based blues-rock guitarist Rudy Wallang will helm The Rudy Wallang Guitar Jamboree, a gig at which he will collaborate with accomplished axe men from the North-East. His Mumbai-based counterpart, blues-rock guitarist-composer Blackstratblues aka Warren Mendonsa will stage an All Stars show featuring special guests at both legs. Here are all the acts you can catch in Meghalaya, where Weekender will be held on Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28 and in Pune, where the eighth instalment will take place between Friday, December 8 and Sunday, December 10.
