Prabhadevi Has Got A New All-Day Pizza Cafe Called Crave

CraveEDITNariman Point’s Di Napoli, one of our favourite purveyors of the Naples-style pizza, sadly shuttered after a two-and-a-half-year run last month. Their lease was up and restaurateur Jai Thakur, who owned Di Napoli, said that with the exodus of large corporate offices from Nariman Point to neighbourhoods like Lower Parel and Bandra Kurla Complex, their footfalls had significantly reduced giving him reason not to renew it. Luckily, Thakur hasn’t given us too much time to pine for his pies. On Monday, April 13 Thakur launched Crave, a new 350 square feet, 12-cover all-day cafe in Prabhadevi where pizzas are the mainstay of the menu. Crave deals in New York-style, thin crust, stone-baked pies as opposed to Di Napoli’s wood-fired pizzas characterised by a naan-like char and floppy centers. Barring the classic Margherita, the pizza selections at Di Napoli and Crave are different. Here, you can choose from the Rush Hour (chicken sausage, cheese, chicken salami, onions and scamorza), the Bacon of Hope (ham, bacon, onion and paprika), the Awesome Foursome (scamorza, cheddar, ricotta and mozzarella) and The Italian Job (prosciutto di Parma with arugula).

Crave also serves burgers and sandwiches. The burgers include the Fungi Town (mushroom and ricotta patty with caramelised onions, truffle mayo and cheddar) and The Knockout (lamb patty with Gorgonzola), while the sandwich section features the Punjabi Feast (chicken tikka with tandoori mayo) and The Firestarter (tuna with chipotle chilli mayo and cheddar). You can round off your meal with tiramisu, vanilla panna cotta or hazelnut chocolate mousse. Thakur aims to open Crave in Bandra by July. Excitingly, he is also scouting for a new location for Di Napoli. Prices at Crave range from Rs195 for a vegetarian sandwich to Rs625 for a 12-inch non-vegetarian pizza.

Crave, 3, Shivalik Building, Appasaheb Marathe Marg, opposite the Porsche showroom, near Century Bazaar, Prabhadevi. Tel: 022 2436 3600. Open daily, from 11am to 11pm.
