Watch The Coldplay Video Shot In Mumbai

The Coldplay video that was filmed in Mumbai last September has finally been released. The city provides the visual backdrop for ‘Hymn For The Weekend’, the second single from their new album A Headful of Dreams. The track includes uncredited vocals by Beyonce and is among the more infectious tunes off the record, which is largely bereft of the big choruses expected of the stadium rock band. The video features the band performing surrounded by kids playing Holi in Worli Koliwada; frontman Chris Martin riding around town in a vibrantly-upholstered kaali-peeli and visiting Imperial Cinema on Lamington Road; shots of Vasai Fort, the Gateway of India and Banganga Tank; and actress Sonam Kapoor looking like she just stumbled in from an Incredible India ad campaign. Elegant exotica or cultural appropriation? Watch the video, directed by US and UK production house Black Dog Films’ Ben Mor with line production by city-based Sniper (a division of Bang Bang Films), and decide.
